Our Guiding Curriculum: Te Whāriki

We follow New Zealand's national early childhood curriculum, Te Whāriki, which empowers young children to be confident and competent learners. Each service weaves a local curriculum based on its principles, taking into account the interests of children and the aspirations of parents, whānau and community.

Empowerment Whakamana

Our curriculum empowers each child to learn, grow, and shine brightly.

Holistic Development Kotahitanga

We reflect the holistic way children learn, connecting mind, body, and spirit.

Family & Community Whānau Tangata

The wider world of family and community is an integral part of our curriculum.

Relationships Ngā Hononga

Children learn through responsive and reciprocal relationships with people, places, and things.

Our Child-Led Philosophy

"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. At various times, play is a way to cope with life and to prepare for adulthood. Playing is a way to solve problems and to express feelings. In fact, play is the real work of childhood."

- Fred Rogers

"Children are not the people of tomorrow, but people today. They are entitled to be taken seriously. They have a right to be treated by adults with tenderness and respect, as equals. They should be allowed to grow into whoever they were meant to be—the unknown person inside each of them is the hope for the future."

- Janusz Korczak

"The child is made of one hundred.
The child has a hundred languages, a hundred thoughts, a hundred ways of thinking, of playing, of speaking.
A hundred worlds to discover, a hundred worlds to invent, a hundred worlds to dream."

- David L.
