Your Questions Answered

Find quick answers to common questions about our centre, enrolment, and daily life at Koru Kids ELC.

What are your opening hours?

We are open Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. We are closed on public holidays.

What age groups do you cater for?

We welcome children from 3 months to 5 years old. Our centre is divided into three dedicated spaces to cater to the unique needs of each age group: Te Aroha (infants), Mahira (toddlers), and Pakiki (preschoolers).

Are meals and snacks provided?

Yes, we provide nutritious and delicious morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea, all prepared fresh on-site by our centre cook. We can cater to most dietary requirements and allergies; please discuss your child's specific needs with us upon enrolment.

What is your educational philosophy?

Our curriculum is guided by Te Whāriki, New Zealand's national early childhood curriculum. We believe in a play-based, child-led approach where children are empowered to explore their interests in a supportive and nurturing environment. We focus on holistic development, relationships, and a strong sense of community.

What should my child bring to the centre each day?

Please pack a named bag containing at least two full changes of clothes, a named drink bottle, any required medication, and a sunhat for outdoor play. For infants, please also include enough nappies for the day and any formula or expressed milk required.

How do you communicate with parents?

We use a secure online platform called Storypark to share photos, learning stories, and daily updates about your child's day. Our teachers are also always available for a chat at drop-off and pick-up times, and we schedule regular parent-teacher discussions.

What is the enrolment process?

The first step is to book a tour to visit our centre and meet our team. If you decide Koru Kids is the right fit, you will complete an enrolment form. We will then confirm a start date based on availability. We encourage you to schedule a few 'settling-in' visits before your child's official start date.

What are your staff-to-child ratios?

We pride ourselves on maintaining excellent staff-to-child ratios that are better than the Ministry of Education requirements. This ensures every child receives quality, individualised care and attention throughout the day.

Got More Questions?

The best way to get a feel for our centre is to visit in person. We'd love to show you around, introduce you to our kaiako (teachers), and answer any other questions you may have.
